Find which quadratics skills to reteach, and why.

A 19-question pre-assessment where every wrong answer points to a specific misconception, a Google Sheet that turns the results into a reteach plan, a matching post-check, and five reteach packs.

Why this is different

A wrong answer tells you what the student was thinking.

Each distractor is written around a common error. When a student picks A on question 13, the key says exactly what they did, and the tracker counts how many students made the same mistake.

You see which skills need teaching again, which students share a pattern, and where one skill is holding up several others.

How it works

Four steps, about one unit apart.

  1. Give the pre-assessment19 multiple-choice questions at the start of the unit. Print and hand out.
  2. Type in the lettersEnter each student's answers. The Sheet scores them.
  3. Reteach what mattersThe dashboard flags skills below your threshold. Use the matching reteach pack.
  4. Re-test and compareGive the post-check on the same 19 skills and see growth by skill and student.

Sample class

See growth by skill, cluster and student.

The tracker ships with six made-up students so you can see every screen working. The numbers on this page come from that sample, not from real students.

The Growth tab also lists the skills that still need reteaching after the unit. In the sample class:

  • Common factoring
  • Multi-technique factoring
  • Solving by factoring

Class average, sample data

Change: +9.6 percentage points. Two of six sample students improved by 10 points or more, and one dropped.

How it was made

A teacher's skill map, drafted with AI.

I teach Grade 10 math in Ontario. The skill map and the list of student misconceptions come from my classroom experience. The questions, answer keys, practice sets and spreadsheet were drafted with AI assistance (Claude, from Anthropic), then reviewed and revised by me.

Questions

Before you buy.

What do I need to use the tracker?

A Google account. After purchase you get a link to make your own copy of the Sheet. Student names and results stay in your own Google Drive.

Does it work in Excel?

It is built for Google Sheets and uses features other spreadsheet programs may not support.

Is student data stored anywhere I do not control?

No. You work in your own copy. The sample students are made up.

Can my department share one copy?

One purchase is licensed for one teacher. Please ask about a department license.

What if I find an error?

Message the seller and it will be corrected.
